The project is quite a simple one, restore XV677 back to an airworthy looking Sea King HAS.6, like I said, simple. We have chosen three categories as our work headers, External, Internal & Display.
External is as it suggests, external. Our aim is to get the parts required to make 677 look complete, airworthy if you like. In the fullness of time we may decide to power up some of the systems (lighting & blade fold hydraulics).
Internal is as it suggests, the internal componant. Although 677 was an ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) helicopter we are only going to concentrate on completing the cockpit area and the cabin sound proofing. The reason behind this decision will become apparent as you read on.
Display this category covers our walk through display. We intend to put on a display inside the vast empty cabin area (hence not putting in the ASW equipment) and dedicate the display to all the UK Sea King units both RAF & FAA, both past & present but especially to No.825 NAS who 677 served with during the Falklands Conflict.
We have chosen not to put deadlines to any of these categories purely because of the uncertainty of the parts acquisition problem but keep checking on our 'Updates' page.
